DRIVING FROM DURBAN DIRECTION:
Please do not rely on Google Maps to take you on the best roads.
DRIVE SAFELY THROUGH MTHATHA – We recommend taking the “Truck bypass”. Be aware of scammers posing as traffic officials – anyone who tries to direct you to an ATM to purchase a ticket for a road toll, detour, parking fee is a fake. You cannot buy tokens/passes/tickets at any ATM in South Africa.

The road is tarred the whole way, however it has quite a few potholes after about half-way, so drive carefully and plan to arrive in daylight. Keep an eye out for stray animals and pedestrians.
DRIVING FROM PORT ELIZABETH (QUEBERHA)/EAST LONDON DIRECTION:
Take the N2 towards Mthatha, approx. 20km before Mthatha take the Coffee Bay/Mqanduli exit (R411) -the off ramp to the left and then turn right under the bridge. Continue on this road for 80km and you will arrive in Coffee Bay.

BUS INFORMATION
Our shuttle leaves Coffee Bay between 11am and midday every day. It arrives at the Shell Ultra City garage, just outside Mthatha (Umtata) between 12.30 and 1.30pm. It will then wait at the garage for the buses, and usually leave between 3 – 3.30pm. If you need to book a seat on the shuttle we need to know what bus you will arrive on and from which direction. (eg. Baz bus from Chintsa/Greyhound from Durban). The baz bus (www.bazbus.com) and mainline buses such as Greyhound, Translux, and Intercape all stop at the Shell Ultra City. Do not get a night bus as you will have to wait until the next day to get our shuttle. The buses from Johannesburg and Pretoria arrive very early in the morning, you can either wait for our shuttle or use the local mini bus taxi to get to Coffee Bay, contact us for advice and see FAQ for more information on this.
